The Cannon Air Force Base gate was closed to incoming traffic for about 35 minutes Saturday when an Explosive Ordnance Disposal dog locked onto something in a car attempting to gain access to the base.
Lt. Stephanie Strine with Cannon Public Affairs said cars are chosen at random for security checks. A car which was chosen for the check was subject to a full inspection after the dog’s alarm.
The car was cleared and traffic resumed as usual, Strine said.
Strine said the incident took place around noon.
